Chelsea were held by an organised West Brom side at the Hawthorns, after leading through a first half Ivanovic strike. A strong response from the Baggies was capped off by Victor Anichebe, who scored his first goal in 12 appearances against Chelsea to grab his side a point.
The first 10 minutes of the game were mainly taken by Chelsea's front four testing a compact West Brom defence. Eto'o and Hazard both looked particularly lively, with the former darting in behind the Baggies' back four on several occasions.
Chelsea looked to dominate possession in the early stages, with 65% recorded in the first fifteen minutes. With Wst Brom set up to counter, half a chance fell to Thievy on 16 minutes, but his pass inside was easily intercepted by Gary Cahill.
The first real chance to Chelsea fell to Ivanovic after 21 minutes, after Eto'o found himself some space to pull the ball back to the Serb, who was smothered by the West Brom defence. Willian went close five minutes later, his 25-yard effort just evading the Ben Foster's crossbar.
It was far from one way however, Berahino heading down to the threatening Thievy whose poor touch wasted the chance.
Chelsea had to wait until the end of the first half to break the deadlock, when Ivanovic volleyed home from inside the six yard box after Luiz flicked on a corner from the near post - putting his total at two for the week.
After the break, West Brom looked to press Chelsea higher up the pitch, but were almost made to pay after Eto'o forced Foster to save at his near post, being played in by Willian who had wrestled free of Yacob.
Chelsea rode the early pressure, again dominating possession. It was Willian again who made the next chance, sending a powerful, swerving shot for Foster to beat away.
The Blues nearly doubled their lead, Hazard using his pace on the counter but was eventually crowded out by an onrushing Baggies' defence, with Torres who had just replaced Eto'o waiting in the box.
West Brom kept up the pressure, Thievy Bifouma coming close after a cross bounced off a few feet in the box. Shots from Brunt and Morrison followed, shortly before what appeared to be a fiery exchange between Cech and Ivanovic.
It was the Midlands' side turn to rack up the corner count, with Dawson heading over after losing his marker on 80 minutes. But the pressure finally paid off, as Victor Anichebe nodded a cross past an onrushing Cech which bounced off the post and into the net after 83 minutes.
West Brom continued to threaten after the goal, as Salah replaced Ramires in an attempt to salvage the three points. Six minutes of added time ensued, as the game opened up but to no avail for either side. After a heated exchange between both sets of players, referee Anthony Taylor decided to blow the final whistle with the spoils shared.
Chelsea will feel disappointed, having not taken the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table. West Brom have moved out of the bottom three.
